OHM Ultra+ Hair Dryer Safety Manual

Safety Precautions

When using your Ultra+ hair dryer, please follow these safety guidelines to avoid risks such as electric shock, fire, and burns.

Core Principles: Operate in a dry environment, away from flammable materials. Stop the hair dryer when not actively in use and perform regular inspections and maintenance.

Remember: Hair dryers generate high temperatures. Safe operation is paramount, and any abnormalities must be handled with caution.

1. Electrical Safety

Avoiding Electric Shock

      • Do not use the hair dryer in humid environments such as bathrooms or near washbasins. Moisture can affect internal circuitry and cause electrical leakage.
      • Regularly inspect the power cord for damage, exposed wires, or loose connectors. If damaged, discontinue use immediately and have the hair dryer repaired.
      • Keep hands dry when plugging and unplugging. Avoid touching the outlet with wet hands, and wipe the plug dry before handling if wet.

Voltage and Power

      • Confirm voltage compatibility and use a qualified voltage converter if needed. Incorrect voltage may damage the motor or cause a fire.
      • Do not share an outlet with other high-power appliances such as electric water heaters or space heaters to prevent circuit overload and tripping.
2. Burn Prevention and Fire Safety

High-Temperature Protection

      • Keep the air outlet 10-15 cm away from your hair to avoid overheating, burns, and scalp damage.
      • Children, individuals with cognitive impairments, or elderly individuals with limited mobility must be supervised by a responsible adult when using the hair dryer. The air outlet can reach temperatures exceeding 100°C.
      • Turn off the power immediately after use and allow the hair dryer to cool completely (approximately 15-20 minutes) before storing. Do not place on clothing, bedding, or other flammable items whilst hot.

Fire Prevention

      • Ensure the air inlet and outlet are not blocked by debris to prevent overheating and fire.
      • Do not use the hair dryer in bed, as this can draw fibres from sheets which may clog the air inlet and cause smoke or fire.
      • Store the hair dryer on a dry, ventilated shelf away from flammable materials such as curtains, paper, and cosmetic bottles.
      • Never leave the hair dryer unattended whilst running. Always supervise when in use.
3. Operating Instructions

Dangerous Operations

      • Do not modify or disassemble the hair dryer. Non-professionals should not disassemble the casing or modify the circuitry, as this may cause a short circuit and void the warranty.
      • Do not insert fingers, hairpins, toothpicks, or other objects into the air inlet or outlet, as they may damage the fan blades or internal components.

Use with Pets

      • When drying pets, use a low temperature setting and maintain a distance of at least 20 cm to prevent startling, biting of hair dryer, or burning the pet’s skin.
4. Special Populations

Children

      • Prevent children from accidentally using high-temperature modes. Use low temperature modes when operating near children.
      • Keep the device at least 20 cm away from the scalp and have an adult operate it at all times.
5. Safety Tips
      • Do not use the device continuously for more than 15 minutes to prevent motor overheating.
      • If the hair dryer is not used for an extended period, run it for 5 minutes regularly (at least once a month) to prevent moisture damage and malfunction.
6. Emergency Procedures

Electric Shock If you experience numbness in your hands or hear unusual sounds, immediately turn off the power and avoid touching yourself. Contact a professional for circuit testing.

Smoke or Fire Immediately unplug the device and use an appropriate fire extinguisher if needed, do not use water as it can cause electrocution. If the fire spreads, call the fire department immediately.

Tangled Hair After turning off the power, carefully cut away tangled hair with scissors, avoiding the fan blades. Do not pull violently. Send the device for repair or disassembly if necessary.

Routine Maintenance

Regular maintenance of your Ultra+ hair dryer extends its lifespan and ensures safe, effective use. Follow these guidelines to keep your hair dryer in optimal condition. Avoid disassembly, which may void the warranty.

1. Cleaning and Maintenance

Air Inlet Filter Cleaning

The air inlet filter prevents dust, hair, and debris from entering the motor and causing malfunctions.

Cleaning frequency: Once a week for regular use, or every 3 days for frequent use.

Removable filter screen model:

      • Turn off the power and unplug the device.
      • Remove the filter cover according to the instructions
      • Use a small brush (such as a toothbrush) to remove dust and hair.
      • For stubborn stains, dip in a small amount of neutral detergent, wipe clean, and dry with a dry cloth.
      • Check for damage and replace promptly if necessary

Body Shell Cleaning

Cleaning frequency: 1-2 times per month, or as needed based on usage.

Method:

      • Use a dry soft cloth to wipe the body of the hair dryer.
      • For oil stains or dirt, dip a small amount of diluted neutral detergent (such as washing-up liquid) to wipe clean, then dry with a dry cloth.
      • Avoid flushing the body directly with water to prevent internal circuits from short circuiting due to water ingress.

Air Outlet Cleaning

Important: Wait until the hair dryer has completely cooled down before cleaning.

Method:

      • Gently wipe the inside of the air outlet with a soft cloth or cotton swab to remove accumulated dust or fluff.
      • This prevents reduced air outlet efficiency and heat dissipation issues.
2. Optimising Usage Habits

Avoid Overload and High Temperature Damage

      • Do not use the hair dryer continuously for extended periods. After 5-10 minutes of continuous use, pause for 2-3 minutes to allow heat to dissipate, to prevent motor overheating and ageing.
      • Keep away from high temperature sources such as radiators and fire sources when in use.
      • When storing, avoid folding the power cord under the body to prevent shell deformation due to high temperature.

Correct Storage Method

      • Ensure the hair dryer is completely cooled and dry before storage to avoid rusting of internal parts in humid environments.
      • Do not excessively bend or wrap the power cord. It can be hung naturally or loosely tied with storage tape (such as a figure-eight winding method) to prevent poor circuit contact.

Anti-Fall and Collision Measures

      • Dropping or colliding with the hair dryer may cause internal parts to loosen (such as motor displacement or circuit breakage).
      • Handle with care and place in a stable location.
3. Key Component Inspection

Motor and Fan Inspection

Listen for unusual sounds: If grinding, sharp sounds, or jittering are heard after powering on, it may indicate fan blade deformation or motor failure. Shut down immediately and have the device repaired.

Check for vibration: During normal operation, vibration should be minimal. If vibration increases significantly, the fan may be unbalanced or internal screws may be loose. Please contact after-sales service for disassembly and inspection.

Temperature Control and Functional Testing

      • Regularly test each setting (for example, each temperature modes) for proper operation.
      • If a setting malfunctions or experiences abnormal temperatures (such as overheating or no air flow), the thermostat or resistor may be faulty and require professional repair.
